#100happydays day 4, 5 and 6: Mama Lee's Vancouver, David's Tea, Vancity love

^^^ 100happydays: Day 4 –– I was feeling really sad on Monday because I had to cancel my flight to Seoul... so Jw brought me out for Singaporean food. We went to Mamalee's on Macdonald. Their food tasted sooooo much better than Banana Leaf. It was AUTHENTIC! We waited ages for a seat but it was so worth it! I found the chicken rice a little too salty for my liking but everything else was so good!! Apart from the chicken rice we ordered nasi lemak, laksa, and grass jelly (and they were PERFECT). Jw loved the nasi lemak and has grown to like laksa, I'm so proud of him. I brought my friend there this evening and Jw told me to bring laksa home for him. Tropical life just got a little easier for this boy ^^^
I'm still upset about having to skip Korea but there are tons of other places for me to visit anyway. I know I shouldn't be this disappointed... and we have other plans so that's good I suppose!

^^^100happydays day 5: More Davids Tea!! I picked more flavours up when I was in pacific centre the other day. No more words are needed.^^^

^^^FLAVOURS: Guava Cadabra, Cream Caramel Roobibos, Long life Oolong. I smelled the guava and bought some because it reminded me of home, but my favourite has got to be the cream caramel roobibos. Long life oolong is nice and peachy, but I think I drank too much of it the other day because my hands and feet started getting reaaaallly sweaty and I got really, really anxious. ^^^

^^ Finally made use of the jacuzzi! It felt so good wading about in reaallly hot water on a cold day. I slept so well after. ^^

^^^ I love this city so much, it will always be special to me. ^^

^^^ #100happydays: Day 6 –– Found out that the mountain facing our apartment was Cypress mountain, and not Whistler (in Jw's words: "why the fuck would Whistler be this close to us? We would go there every day if we could".) Anyway, the other day the mountain was literally glowing, it was sooo beautiful.I just felt.. happy looking at it. Vancouver is really just such a beautiful place and I say it all the time but I don't think anyone knows how in love I am with it. Anyway, I went to pee and get my phone, and when I looked at it again, dusk was here and this was the best shot I could get. I'd love to have it happen again. ^^^^

#100happydays: Day 1

Most of you are probably be familiar with the #100happydays challenge on social media :) I think it's a good way to be thankful for the little things in life. Anyway I've decided to start mine here because I'm a littleee shy to do it on Instagram (I really don't know why.).. and instagram limits words anyway. So here we go!

Day 1: Image
Story time!
I was paying for my stuff (T-discs and pens!!) at Staples, and the cashier (who I later found out was named Mars) asked me how I was. This isn't uncommon, obviously, so I gave my standard "I'm good, how are you?". And he goes "Good, but you don't look so good. You look really tired." So I tell him about my midterms this week, and he tells me that his midterms were over last week.. the usual about school and my lack of sleep. Anyway the conversation ended with him offering to do a dance to make my day better, which was a nice gesture. I was too shy to ask him if I could get a photo of him because he made Day 1 of my #100happydays challenge, so here's a picture of my receipt from Staples, and my coffee made brewed from the T-Discs I bought there. Thanks for making me laugh, Mars! I'm going off on a tangent here but the coffee machine is awesome and my weekend has seen a lot of T-disc shopping. So far my favourite has been Gevalia's Caramel Macchiato !!! EVERYONE SHOULD TRY IT

Vancouver-heavy: David's Tea, Granville Island, great macarons, Benny's Bagels.

I'm back after an intense week! I've been unintentionally neglecting this space but I've got tons of things to do and I've found tons of places / things to do in Vancouver over the past few weeks!! Spring break's next week so I hope I get to do lots of them and then maybe write something about what to do in this fine city. You know, for tourists or something. Heh. As for this week... pictures will do the talking:

^^^^^ It's midterm season so I got a ton of snacks from Jw. He also bought me a coffee machine. (I have been happily ingesting 93845639586 glasses of sugar every day as a result). Sweet!

^^^ Went to Banana Leaf on Macdonald to celebrate Chinese New Year our my way. I don't usually feel lonely when I'm away from home on holidays like Christmas, or New years, but I felt a little bit homesick that day. The fact that I wasn't receiving any angpows may have attributed to it. On the eve of it we celebrated it the way Koreans would (which just meant eating a ton of Korean food), and then on the day itself we went for Singaporean / Malaysian food. It was soooo nice to have a taste of home on that day. We had Laksa, Nasi Lemak (which Jw loved, so now we know what he'll be having on a daily basis in Singapore), Satay, Teh Tarik, and Chilli Squid ..*drools*.. now I want to go back again! Kind of. The service was reaaaaallly not good but at least the good food made up for it. I guess we should stick to going to the one on Davie Street instead :) :)

^^PLEDGE NIGHT. Met most, if not all of my sisters and they are such wonderful women, I can't wait to get to know them better!

^^ Banila Co + Etude House have done wonders for my skin I am so happy ^^

^^^ Sold my soul to Davids Tea. Seriously. I don't even drink tea. I've heard lots of good things about Davids Tea from friends, so today I wandered in to their shop and got served a sample ..... and..... started smelling tea leaves.... and I don't know how it happened but I walked out with a bag of tea and I know that I'm going back for more tomorrow ^^^

^^^ This is just half of the tea they have!!! They have allllll sorts of tea. Peach with apricot. Peach and almond. Mango. Something called Buddha Blend which smells awesome. Korean Tea. Etc. etc. etc. They have a lottt more, but the girls beside me were judging me as I was taking this shot so hahahaha ^^^^

^^^ Today was Family Day (a public holiday!) and Jw made pancakes~~ I was pleasantly surprised because he usually makes Korean food. Which is obviously yummy and great, but surprises are always good! ^^^

^^^ MADE SOME NEW FRIENDS ON GRANVILLE ISLAND. Fun fact: Did you know that birds are feathered dinosaurs? Google it!

I got macarons from Stuart's Bakery in the Farmers Market on Granville Island. They are seriously. the. best. TWG can step aside. I don't even know how to describe how they taste like, they're just H E A V E N L Y. Brought a box back home for Jw and he liked everything except for the Rose / Raspberry flavoured ones (which I love...yayyy leftovers).

I haven't been to Granville Island in ages :( I should start going there more often. The food there is great. My favourite is Tony's Fish and Oyster Cafe. I would have liked to have lunch there today but I was a #bitchonabudget.. another time then.

^^^ Had brunch at Benny's Bagels, also on Macdonald. It's a super awesome place with a fireplace and wood e v e r y w h e r e. It even had a second floor (for some reason, cafe's with second floors make me excited :D :D) but it was a little crowded today, so we had to share a table. Maybe because today was a public holiday. Nonetheless the bagels was good and I had a Lox on Honeywheat bagel. Smoked salmon makes me so happy! I don't remember what my friend had but I know she had lots of cheese and bacon (and it looked really good as well).

Well that's about everyyyyything. I have an essay on ancient Greek philosophy that is just DYING to be written... not. Until then, have a happy week!

Facelook: Korean inspired 'natural' makeup tutorial

Hi guys ! Right now I'm sitting in politics class as I write this post and I'm right at the back so I'm pretty happy that no one (apart from the guy beside me who is eating A BURGER) will see my gigantic face. Hahaha . Pulled an all nighter last night to finish an essay and I am exhausted. On a brighter note, I'm getting pledged later! Excitement *_* Sooo I decided to go with a really simple fuss-free look today. You know, focus on my carefully picked out dress. I figured that a koreanish doe-eyed look that was subtle would work:

Eyes: Etude House Dear Girl Big Eyes Maker
Eyebrows: Brown eyeshadow from Benefit's Big Beautiful Eyes palette
Blush: NARS Deep Throat
Lips: The Saem - Saemmul Lip Crayon in shade 02
Concealer: K-Palette Zero-Cover Kuma Concealer

Big Eye Maker:
Top eyelid: I lined the area closest to my eyelashes with the white/glitter side of the Big Eyes Maker, then used the brown side to line my 'V' area, and the area above the white eyeshadow.
Bottom eyelid: 1/3 white side, 2/3 brown side. I try not to do the typical Korean 'straight' eyebrows because my face is too oblong, so I always go with a slight arch.

K-Palette Zero is the most industrial strength concealer ever!!! The all nighter left me with eyebags that resembled a Givenchy Nightingale... so I knew immediately what to use to conceal them ^^
